Meet the Cast

Seth Furr (Stage Crew) is thrilled to be making his return to the stage after over a year and a half away. He graduated from Anderson University in May 2024 with a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Digital Media. Audience members may recognize him from past productions at AU, including Our Town (Simon Stimson), Anything Goes (Elisha Whitney), and The Secret Garden (Major Holmes/Dr. Craven U.S.). Currently, Seth is an Executive Assistant at Allyson Brooke, Inc. in Iva, SC; he is also an active member of New Prospect Baptist Church here in Anderson and is currently pursuing an online Master of Business in Ministry Management through Warner University. Seth would like to thank his family, as well as his best friends, Sammy and David Zapata, for their constant prayers, love, and support as he continues to seek what the Lord has in store for him.

Phyllis Henderson (Christine Bean) is excited to be performing at Market Theatre for the first time! Earlier this year, Phyllis performed the role of Mother Superior in the musical Sister Act at Greenville Theatre and Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret at Centre Stage Theatre. Other roles include: Legally Blonde (Judge/Ensemble), Eleemosynary (Dorothea), 9 to 5 (Margaret), and ‘Night, Mother (Thelma Cates) at Centre Stage, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Grandma Josephine) (Greenville Theatre), and Bright Star (Mamma Murphy) (MTP). Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional!

Asia Hopwood (Tess Watson) is thrilled to be making her Market Theatre mainstage debut in such a hilarious show. Her recent previous credits include Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None (Vera) with Mill Town Players, Snow White and the Prince (Snow White) at Lauren’s County Community Theater, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Theseus) with Mauldin Theatre Company. She thanks her wonderful group of family and friends who support her at every show and audition, and her fantastic partner Brandon Ledford, with whom she is grateful to share the stage tonight.

Zach Hufham (Stage Crew) is delighted to be doing his third show with Market Theatre! You might've seen him in his roles in Jersey Boys (Ensemble/Finn the Producer) and She Kills Monsters (Monster Puppeteer). He's worked stage crew for a few park shows (Rock of Ages and The Tempest). Zach wants to thank his wonderful life partner, Jillian Wain (Perkins), for all the experiences he's been able to have in the theater.

Chris Liles (Jonathan Harris) has previously appeared on the Market stage as Egeon in Comedy of Errors, Lord Clapham in Something Rotten!, Benny Perkins in Hands on a Hardbody, Bob Crewe in Jersey Boys, Richard Bailey in Kinky Boots, Ron Miller in A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screen Play about the Death of Walt Disney, and was one of the players for the 2023 School Tour of Pinocchio. When not at Market Theatre, Chris is probably reading in a coffee shop somewhere. He is grateful to his family for their patience and understanding during late-night rehearsals.

Matthew “Matt”  McCaskill (Max Bennett) is a recent graduate of Western Carolina University with a B.F.A. In Theatre! This is Matthew’s acting debut at the Market Theatre! Catch Matthew’s next project at Market Theatre in March for Jagged Little Pill and at Centre Stage for A Few Good Men! Hope you enjoy the show! Arts are for Everyone!

He would like to honor the amazing talent of his fellow cast and thank his wonderful family, as well as his lovely partner Asia Hopwood, with whom he gets to share the stage, for their never-ending love and support!

Big thanks and love to Jeff for all the support.  It has been a thrill to work with this amazing team on this show!

Lucy Southwell (Sandra Wilkinson) is thrilled to be involved in her first mainstage production with The Market Theatre. You may recognize her as Dromio of Syracuse from this year’s production of The Comedy of Errors in Carolina Wren Park. She is mostly thankful for the air conditioning this time around. Lucy has been involved in many aspects of theatre since she caught “the acting bug” at Woodmont High School. She has been an actor, director, stage manager, sound operator, box office attendant, usher, and the backend of a wooden alligator in a production of Peter Pan. Past Mauldin Theater Company productions: Midsummer Night’s Dream (Co-Director), Love’s Labour’s Lost (Berowne), As You Like It (Jaques), and Twelfth Night (Valentine/Priest). Some of her favorite past roles include Lauren in Kinky Boots, Cindy Lou in Winter Wonderettes, Phantom in The Rocky Horror Show, Lorraine in Jersey Boys, Farrah in She Kills Monsters, Featured Dancer in Sweet Charity, and more! A huge thank you to David Veatch and Market Theatre for the opportunity to be part of this show! After this, you can catch her in Jagged Little Pill at Market Theatre in March!

He enjoys woodworking and tinkering with cars, and he loves his wife and all three of his daughters.

Sylvia Lafferman (Asst. Director/Stage Manager)

Emily Mitchell (Stage Manager) has been with the Market Theatre company for the past three years. With a degree in Media Communication from Lander University, she is excited to return as one of the Stage Managers for The Play That Goes Wrong. He formerly served three years as the Community Theatre Chair for the SC Theatre Association and two years on staff with the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC). He is the Executive Artistic Director at Market. Noah was selected as one of the Anderson’s 20 Under 40 rising community leaders. As a high school student, Noah fell in love with the stage after having the opportunity to play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. Following a ten-year break from acting, he recently returned to the stage as Chip in Spelling Bee and in his all-time dream role, Mark Cohen, in Market’s landmark production of RENT. He enjoys directing, producing, and marketing for the theatre industry. Some favorite directing credits include Into the Woods (in Carolina Wren Park), Next to Normal, Sweeney Todd, Godspell, Almost Maine, The Fantasticks, Matilda, Shrek the Musical, and four 24 Hour Musicals. He is married to Market co-founder Carlie, and they have a seven-year-old son, Elias.

David Veatch (Director) is a playwright, director, dramaturg, and producer. David most recently directed the exciting and wonderful show Puffs at Market Theatre! David also directs, stage manages, and dramaturgs all over the upstate. When not living the life of a showgirl, David is the world's bravest barista, an active player of Disney Dreamlight Valley, and spends time with Alfredo, David's cat, the littlest, most perfect guy in the universe (who sends many angry meows to everyone keeping me from home). David holds an MFA in Playwriting from Hollins University, an M.A. in Theatre, and a B.A. in Theatre. I hope you enjoy the show!

Andy Wettlin (Props Designer) is excited to make his debut as Props Designer with The Play That Goes Wrong. He brings a love of problem-solving and hands-on creativity to the process. He is grateful to the cast and production team at Market Theatre for their support and collaboration. Andy hopes audiences enjoy the mayhem as much as he has enjoyed helping bring it to life. When not 3D printing props, Andy works full-time as a software tester. He wants to thank his family - Joy, Ashley, and Kyle - for their love and support.

Ashley Wettlin (Costume Designer) has been involved at Market in numerous ways, including music directing Tick Tick…Boom! earlier this year, and starring in Natural Woman: a Carole King Tribute Concert and Little Shop of Horrors. You may also recognize her from the 2022 production of Shrek the Musical, where she starred as Princess Fiona (yes, Fiona is the star – duh). Ashley is the founder and creative director of “Just a Girl Productions”- a touring tribute company- which has galloped into Market Theater thrice (Pink Pony Club in 2024, and Power Pop Girls and Meet Me at Midnight in 2025). In addition to this, Ashley is also a writer (winning the 2022 SC New Play Festival with her original work, …And Getting Caught in the Rain), and recently premiered her original Musical Yes, Mommy in New York City. Various other credits include Shelia HAIR at the Count Basie Center in New Jersey, producing concerts at 54 Below and The Green Room 42, and touring with Remember Jones. When she doesn’t have her performance hat on, she teaches at Soul Yoga Studio and enjoys spending time with her family.

Drew Whitley (Producer) has performed in, directed, and produced over 100 productions at theaters across the Upstate, including Market Theatre, Warehouse Theatre, Greenville Theatre, Mill Town Players, Centre Stage, Electric City Playhouse, and Clemson University. At the Market, he has directed Jersey Boys, The Rocky Horror Show, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Footloose (24 Hour Musical), The Little Mermaid (24HM), Newsies (24HM) and award-winning productions of Every Brilliant Thing, The 39 Steps, and Death of a Salesman, as well as co-directed the outdoor smashes Shrek and Rock of Ages with Artistic Director Noah Taylor. He holds two bachelor's degrees from Clemson University, one in Secondary Education and one in English Literature, as well as a minor in Theatre. As always, thanks and love to Rosie and my family, who make it all possible.
