After signing up, you will receive a link to the Audition Form, which you can complete any time prior to the audition night. You can also complete the audition form in-person while at auditions, but you may find it helpful to get a head start.
If you decide not to audition, please use the link in your sign up confirmation email to edit your form accordingly, OR email hello@themarketanderson.org to let us know that you will not be attending.
Can’t make it to auditions? Contact us at hello@themarketanderson.org for a video submission form. (Note: auditioning in-person is preferred when possible!)
How It Works
WHAT TO PREPARE
Be prepared to sing 30-60 seconds of a musical theatre song with backing music.
Please bring your backing track on (i.e. smart phone or tablet). We will have multiple adapters for you to connect to our speaker.
A pianist will not be provided. Backing tracks are widely available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. and offer consistency so you can have your the best audition possible.
We strongly discourage a capella auditions.
Be prepared to list any schedule conflicts you will have during the rehearsal process & performances for the show (August 15 to November 3).
Be prepared to upload a photo. If you have a professional headshot, great! If not, no worries–any recent photo is helpful for our team.
Be prepared to either upload a performance resume or describe your performing experience.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Check-in with our team members when you arrive.
You will be given an audition number. Numbers are assigned in the order of arrival.
The team member will also confirm that we received your digital audition form; if not, they will provide directions on how to complete a form while you wait.
If you have time constraints, questions, or concerns, please discuss them with the team member at check-in.
At 6:30pm, the production team will welcome everyone, make announcements, and introduce themselves.
Then, auditionees will be called into the audition room by number (in the order they arrived) one a a time.
When you enter the audition room, you will be welcomed by the team and have a moment to set up your backing music.
Note: A capella (singing without accompaniment) is allowed but not recommended.
When you’re ready, stand in the middle of the room, and introduce yourself. Example: “Hi, my name is ________, and I will be singing ____________”. (This is called “slating”).
After you sing, please remember to grab your personal device used for accompaniment and exit. You are free to leave!
AFTER THE AUDITION
Within 1 week, we will send an update to all auditionees letting them know whether they will be needed for callbacks.
Casting can sometimes take quite a while. Some role offers will go out on an individual basis in the days following callbacks, while others could take a few additional weeks. When casting is complete and all roles have been accepted, we will notify those who were not cast, and post a full cast list publicly on social media and on our website. Thank you in advance for your patience!
