Mary Nickles (“Scene Study” for teens/adults) is presently the director and producer of the Anderson Senior Follies and an adjunct theater professor at Anderson University. For 17 years she was the director of Music and Drama at the Montessori School of Anderson and produced and directed over 40 productions, including a High School production which was presented at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Her high school competed four times in the One-Act competition at the South Carolina Theater Association, placing in the top five three of those times. In 2016, they placed 2nd and Mary was awarded ‘best director’ for the high school division. Some of her other directorial credits include Bright Star, Ring of Fire at Mill Town, Women of Lockerbie at Anderson University, The Addams Family & Steel Magnolias at Market Theatre and The Boys Next Door and Baby at ECP. Before she became an educator and director, she performed in Georgia and Florida where she had the opportunity to work with Michael Shurtleff and Vinnette Carroll. Last year, Mary stepped back onto the stage to play M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias at Mill Town Players. She has a BA in Theatre from Coker College, a MA in Theatre Production from Central Washington University, studied a semester at the Eugene O’Neill National Theater Institute and apprenticed a summer at Barter Theatre.
