On November 17, the South Carolina Theatre Association voted to recognize The Market Theatre Company with the 2019 Founder’s Award.
The SCTA Founder’s Award is the most prestigious honor the South Carolina Theatre Association can bestow. It is given to recognize the individual or organization that has made the most significant contribution to theatre in South Carolina.
SCTA’s Annual Awards are presented at the Awards Gala on February 22, 2020 at Furman University. Individual tickets and tables will be sold in advance.
The Founder's Award has been given annually since 1984. Previous recipients include South Carolina Children's Theatre (2010), Warehouse Theatre (2014), Mill Town Players (2015), USC Aiken (2017), University of South Carolina (1990), Clemson University (1984), and Trustus Theatre (1997) among many others.

Theatre of Distinction Award – Spartanburg Little Theatre
Deborah Smith Hoffman Outstanding Mentor Teacher – Anne Lavely

Hall of Fame Inductees – Allen McCalla, Suzanne McCalla, Michael Genevie
